Well folks, (especially you Miranda.. it's been a while since this DJ posted up anything worthy of downloading and has been a little bit lazy in getting things up on this old site. The new site is in the works so hold on to your headphones. This one goes out to P. Badiee, thanks for the idea.. now here's the fruits of my labor!

Took the tracks done by Pendulum and ~~created~~ redid them as I saw fit.. combined a few little extras with an acapella version that I found (Don't worry audiophiles, it's a studio, not a dirty DIY ;) Enjoy this wayback playback!

Cool Vs. Cruel is an annual fashion show that the Art Institute puts on every year. This is a design competition that challenges students of The Art Institutes to reinterpret and improve a runway look that uses animal fur by creatively replacing it with cruelty-free alternatives. This year, the competition challenges students to improve on an inhumane design by Zac Posen, Giorgio Armani, Burberry Prorsum, or Thakoon. Students s...hould use key elements from one of these four runway designs as inspiration for an original animal-friendly creation. They will either be designing evening wear, outer wear or suits.

toMOOSE - REFIX ARTIST FEATURE

One of the best out there that tells us that "when he's not spending time with his fiancée he does these remixes". He refixes everything from chart topping pop to underground and undiscovered talent across the globe. So who is he?

I first discovered Tommi, (aka toMoose aka 86toMoose) a 23 year old living in the UK through YouTube when a few of our remix titles came up in the same search. Curious to see what he had done with the tracks I took a listen and I was not disappointed.

toMoose has an eclectic ear and uses it to his advantage when refixing songs that mash together from completely different genres. Always on key and always on beat, he leaves you thinking that the song is in fact the original (but in most cases it's better). The best part about toMoose is that he's open to sharing his mixes for free with anyone willing to listen with a link to his mediafire.com file sharing site, you can access a huge library of refixes from way back to present day and it's always updating.

OLYMPIC FEVER + SUBURBIA SAFETY

So I'm sick with food poisoning and a fever.. probably from the amount of people that are in my hood because of the Olympics here in Vancouver. I'm just going to say that's what it's from... it could also have been the 40 nuggets that I downed two nights ago from McDonalds (Official Restaurant of the Olympic Games)... however.. it's given me a chance to do some digging through a lot of music, and I pulled out this wonderful gem that pretty much explains what I'm doing now...

This medicinal track comes from a Rock/Elektro/Synth band called SPLEEN UNITED from their 2008 album called “Neanderthal”. Not too long ago The Juan MacLean did a remix that was just released. Here I am hiding away from the city of Vancouver, my condo surrounded by tourists. It kind of makes me miss "SUBURBIA". It's nice to see the crossover though between a Rock band that does Electro and Synth sounds live. It totally changes the way the music industry portrays what ignorant people would call "Techno Music".

You might never have heard of this CANADIAN MC/Rapper Ben Rinehart [AKA "BLESS"] from Montréal, but believe me. You will start to hear his name across radio waves and blasting outta people's cars this summer...

Bless has been around the block, touring with the likes of Lloyd Banks, Limp Bizkit and Gangstarr. He's had two albums launch and his third is on the way this year. I came across this remix a couple days ago and I have to tell you that this song is absolutely perfect for waking up in the morning. I have been getting up early (5:30am) every morning in pitch black and the only thing that's kept me going is setting this tune by B'More remixer Gnarly Brown.

There's not much info about this "Gnarly Brown". Transworld made a tee with the famous peanuts character shirt with waves at the tops of the peaks but other than that, this guy's a mystery. Maybe if someone would do a little "snoopy-ing" around Google we might get some more info...

DJ Black Sheep will be multi-tasking it up this week Bartending and Spinning at the IRISH HOUSE 2010 Official Olympic Venue of Ireland. (Located on the corner of Nelson and Seymour St in Vancouver).

The 9000 sq ft venue is run by the Granville Entertainment Group (The Roxy, Doolins, The Cellar) and can house up to 700 party people. There are multiple TV Screens to watch the games and in the evenings there is a St Patrick's Day party nightly.

Take a look at the face that's changing the music industry:

This is "chart topper" Kesha Sebert; a singer from Nashville Tennessee. She is the biggest thing since Nascar allowed Danika Patrick to drive with men. As far as her debut album goes... it won't get any play out of this DJ's speakers. She self describes her fashion style as "Garbage-Chic" and as Paul Lester puts it, "her whole shtick appears to be predicated on the idea that she's a rebel in American Apparel."

I think that her music genre should be called "Garbage" in general.

I'm sick of hearing this song, and I'm sick of daughters of songwriters and producers getting an "in" into the industry just to make BS songs because they get free studio time on Daddy's dime. No more songs about pedicures, apple bottom jeans, P Diddy or patron... if you're gonna sing hip hop, talk about real shit. What does a 22 year old white girl from Nashville who waitressed in L.A. and was moonlighting in telemarketing know about Hip Hop? I'm waiting for Eminem to come up with another song like "Ass Like That" that will rip this girl a new one...

Recently, she's appeared singing backup vocals for Britney Spears and collaborating with another industry joke: Katy Perry. Did you know that she didn't get paid or appear in the video for Flo Rida's "Right Round"? She said that she wanted to become an artist in her own right. (Newsflash Kesha, your fame came from that song and you will always be known for collaborating with Flo Rida and Katy Perry). I will be impressed if you make it past two albums and have a record with multiple platinum singles.

Ghosts Come Back to Haunt Me in CANADA

A Motto that recently popped into my head while listening to friend and fellow Canadian turntablist, DJ Rachel Sehl:

She spun in an undisclosed location and played the song Ghosts n Stuff by recently popularized Canadian deejay and producer Joel Zimmerman. Who? You might recognize his DJ pseudonym: Deadmau5 (Dead Mouse... for those of you who pronounce it dead-mow-five).

Joel has released his second version of Ghosts n Stuff and made it exactly as Daft Punk puts it: Harder... Better... Faster... Stronger. It has all the recognizable rhythms and synths that it does in the original, but it's tweaked ever so slightly punching the record past its predecessor. It knocked me out when I first heard it.. let me return the favor:

The Office (US) version is one of my favorite shows right now, along with Flight of The Conchords which starts its Second Season on HBO and The Black Donnelly's which got canceled after it's first season run but man, are there a lot of people that want to see a second! Anyways, thought I'd let you know what's up with this picture!

It looks a lot like the cover for the last four seasons of the office but the fifth season hasn't come out yet, it's still playing on NBC (US) and Global (Canada) with new episodes "Coming Soon". Well I couldn't wait that long so I downloaded all the old season five episodes and I was putting them on my iPod with the rest of the seasons when I realized that there's no cover for Season 5! I couldn't let that go so I brought out the ol' Adobe Photoshop and grabbed a few images from NBC.com and a few off the net and created my own Season Five DVD Cover art. What do you think? Should they use it?

A brand spankin' new 'Circus' Refix just in time for the weekend by Britney Spears! I threw in some Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Ying Yang Twins, Fat Man Scoop (For Fun), Timbaland and Kevin Rudolf ft Lil Wayne, so LET IT ROCK in your Speakerboxxes!

I'm not a big fan of Britney's new album. Overall I would give it a 6.5/10 mostly because of the lyrics. It sounds like Britney got her original writers from her first album to come up with her lyrics. Very Katy Perry-esque Which is no surprise considering the guy who produces Katy Perry Songs (Benny Blanco) Produced Circus! (As For Katy Perry.. who I think is actually a joke amongst record executives who thought they could just take a pretty face and make a singer by using high tech equipment and production secrets because we all know she can't bloody well sing live!). He's done better work with remixes for J.U.S.T.I.C.E. and Kylie Minogue in the past.

Anyways.. Britney does incorporate a lot of great producers on this album which shows in her beats such as Danja (Kill The Lights, Blur) Dr Luke (Circus, Lace and Leather) who's worked with countless chart toppers including writing Since You've Been Gone for Kelly Clarkson... and Max Martin who has helped the likes of Pink and The Backstreet Boys (If You Seek Amy) however I didn't like the one for "Circus" (the second single on the album after 'Womanizer') so I put it together with Ying Yang Twins "Drop" and Timbaland's "The Way I Are" and Kevin Rudolf ft Lil Wayne "Let it Rock". I also took the intros from Eminems "Encore" CD and Christina Aguilera's song "Enter the Circus".

Well it's been requested and I've been harassed to get this one up here so here it is, the most anticipated remix from DJ Black Sheep Called "Tell Me Why I Gotta Fly (Work it Out Remix)"

I first did this refix when I was starting to DJ in a basement suite and thought the songs worked well together, little did I know how well they went together.. I played them in the club and it has become one of my 'singles' and is recognizable as soon as you walk into the club. I edited the track with Lil Jon and Kanye West's "New Workout Plan" to add some Party Noise however, I still love the original that I made which I will never post so please don't ask! :P Anyways, here it is! Lil Wayne will be the next prez of the United States. He's Illy, but so were the old school rappers that people seem to forget about. I brought back a classic from Dead Prez, two old school hard knocks that never laid a track down without heart. They talked about making "Fake Records" and about "How many records get sold off of sex drugs rock and roll" instead of real hip hop, and real music. Some say Lil Wayne is making crap, some say it's real music.

Jay Z has questioned Lil Wayne's sexuality and claims copyrights for naming his albums (mixtapes) The Carter, after Sean Carter (Jay - Z). There is an ongoing feud between the two rappers fueled by hate and popularity. Lil Wayne says Jigga should retire, and Hov says Weezy should never have started rapping. :S Lil Wayne supposedly is rumored to collaborate on other artists tracks for 150,000.00 (US). I went to the Mirage last night for the long weekend bash, and let me tell you.. it was nothing to have missed out on. Rude people, terrible music.. it felt like I was back in grade 12 10 the entire night. There wasn't anything fresh, no ORIGINALITY and the mixing left nothing to the imagination. The only good part of the night was the friends and the service from the always half nude, half cut, ~~half speed~~ Tyson Hernandez, Just KIDDING buddy.
